Equipment

  • 1 Food processor
  • 1 Toaster or Toaster Oven
  • 1 Sharp chef’s knife
  • 1 Cutting board

Ingredients

Avocado Ranch Dressing

  • 1 avocado
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried dill weed

Sandwich

  • 6 slices whole wheat bread
  • 4 ounces sliced turkey or deli meat
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • 2 cups lettuce about 4 large leaves
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • ½ cup avocado ranch dressing prepared above

Instructions

  • Prepare the Avocado Ranch Dressing: Begin by gathering all the ingredients for the avocado ranch dressing: one ripe avocado, half a cup of creamy Greek yogurt, one tablespoon of fresh lime juice, half a teaspoon of salt, an eighth of a teaspoon of ground black pepper, and quarter teaspoons each of garlic powder, onion powder, and dried dill weed. Place all these ingredients into the bowl of your food processor. Secure the lid tightly and pulse the mixture several times. Then, run the processor continuously until the dressing becomes smooth, creamy, and well-blended with no visible lumps. Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning if needed. Once ready, transfer it to a small bowl or container and set aside for later use.
  • Toast the Bread Slices: Next, take six slices of whole wheat bread and toast them to your preferred level of crispiness using a toaster or toaster oven. Toasting adds a pleasant crunch and prevents the bread from becoming soggy once the sandwich is assembled. As each slice finishes toasting, place it carefully on a clean plate or cutting board.
  • Assemble the First Layer: Lay one toasted bread slice flat on your work surface or plate. Place one large leaf of fresh lettuce on top of the bread, making sure it covers the surface evenly. Then, layer two ounces of sliced turkey over the lettuce, distributing it evenly for consistent flavor in every bite. This combination provides a solid foundation for your sandwich.
  • Add the First Dressing Spread and Second Layer: Take a second toasted slice of bread and use a spoon or spatula to spread approximately two tablespoons (about one ounce) of the prepared avocado ranch dressing evenly over one side. Gently place this slice, dressing side down, on top of the turkey layer. Next, add another large leaf of lettuce on top of this bread slice to add crunch and freshness to the sandwich.
  • Layer the Tomato, Onion, and Bacon: Now, add vibrant slices of tomato on top of the lettuce, covering the surface thoroughly. If you’d like, add thinly sliced purple onion for an extra layer of sharpness and flavor. Following this, lay four crispy bacon slices evenly across the tomatoes and onions. The bacon adds a smoky, savory crunch that perfectly complements the creamy dressing and fresh vegetables.
  • Final Dressing Spread and Top Bread: Take a third slice of toasted bread and spread another two tablespoons (about one ounce) of avocado ranch dressing over one side. Carefully place this piece of bread, dressing side down, on top of the bacon layer, completing the sandwich stack. Press down gently to help everything hold together without squashing the layers.
  • Optional Slicing and Serving Suggestions: If desired, use a sharp knife to slice the sandwich diagonally or in halves for easier handling and an appealing presentation. Serve your Turkey Avocado Club alongside classic sandwich accompaniments such as pickles, potato chips, or pretzels for a well-rounded meal.
  • Enjoy Your Fresh, Homemade Sandwich: Your Turkey Avocado Club is now ready to enjoy! This sandwich pairs wonderfully with a cold glass of iced tea or fresh lemonade, making it perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner. Store any leftover avocado ranch dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

Notes

This Turkey Avocado Club is incredibly versatile—you can easily swap the turkey for chicken or even a vegetarian deli meat if preferred. When selecting your avocado, choose one that is ripe but firm to ensure a creamy texture without being mushy. Toasting the bread is key to preventing sogginess from the dressing and juicy tomatoes, so don’t skip this step. For an extra smoky flavor, try using smoked turkey or add a dash of smoked paprika to the avocado ranch. The homemade avocado ranch dressing can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to three days, making this sandwich perfect for quick meal prep.
